Introduction to the Metacrisis gives you a way of seeing the crisis: symptoms, roots, a reason for hope. This course is the next step, for those who want to understand it in depth: the intellectual history of modernity, the philosophy beneath the crisis, the thinkers who have mapped this territory most honestly, and what real paradigm shifts have looked like from the inside.
Two immersive weekends online, a gap between for your own inquiry, and a group small enough (about 12–15 people) for real thinking and real community. Sessions are timed to work across Europe, the Americas and beyond, and recordings keep you in the thread when life gets in the way.
- Led by
- Rufus Pollock and Sylvie Barbier
- We'll run it when a group is ready. Register interest, even tentatively.
Weekend 1 (Friday evening and Saturday)
Foundations: the intellectual history of modernity and its crisis, the philosophy of paradigm change, and how we know what we think we know about what is emerging. The group forms.
Between (4–6 weeks)
Personal inquiry. Each participant takes one thread (a question, a thinker, a domain) and goes deep, with one or two group calls to share what’s emerging.
Weekend 2 (Friday evening and Saturday)
Bringing the inquiries back: collective sensemaking, and where this leaves each of us, in thought, in life and in what we want to contribute.
Depth
The foundations beneath the picture: the real intellectual history, the philosophy, and an honest account of where paradigm change comes from.
Inquiry
A personal inquiry you have actually pursued, not just thought about.
Rigour
The ability to engage with the ideas seriously, and to spot where sensemaking is weak.
Community
A small group doing the same work, and the beginning of something ongoing.
- You’ve done the intro course (or have similar background) and want to go further.
- You’re drawn to intellectual depth, not just orientation.
- You’re willing to do real work between the weekends: reading, writing, thinking.
- You want a small group, not a large course.
